Ku Klux Klan

This picture is of the KKK burning a cross.

The Ku Klux Klan started in the south after the Civil War in the years 1861-1865. It was formed in Tennessee. Three million people were in the group when it first started. The KKK didn't want black people to vote, so they frightened them or terrorized them. The Ku Klux Klan tormented not only black people but they persecuted immigrants, such as, Jews and Roman Catholics.

This is a KKK march with the Confederate flag.

Most of the black Americans called the Ku Klux Klan "spirits of the Confederate dead." Finally, the Ku Klux Klan vanished in 1871. Some KKK members finally got arrested because they were doing their evil business during the day. Now everyone could see what the KKK was really doing.

I think that the KKK was a huge mistake. They should never have kept the Black Americans down because all people should be treated equally.

This picture is of a KKK hood.
